The AT Team is pleased to bring you the latest updates on the Core AT Network Project, as we continue to make significant progress on our projects. Your involvement remains crucial, and we appreciate your ongoing support!
Spryfield Update: Community Engagement Phase 1 Complete!
We are pleased to announce that we have officially closed the engagement work for Phase 1 in Spryfield. Our collaboration with the Spryfield Community Association has been instrumental in connecting with residents and sharing our engagement events and portal/project page to effectively capture our community-based AT plan.
Through our engagement practices, including open houses, stakeholder/vested interest group sessions, pop-ups, online surveys, and our interactive online map, we captured 125 points of feedback! These insights will form a strong foundation for the community’s vision. We are currently drafting our “What We Heard” report, which will help illustrate the feedback and conversations we had and how this feedback will inform the final network plan and guide us in designing conceptual plans in Phases 2 and 3, reflecting the vision of the Springfield community.
For the Engineers and Designers reading this newsletter!
Look out for our Request for Quotes plan, which is needed for the facility designs and is scheduled for release in the second week of July. This is your opportunity to contribute your expertise and insight to our eventual Request for Proposals.
Pugwash Update: Last Chance for Community Comment and Input (Phase 1)
Neck and Neck with Spryfield, Pugwash is keeping the momentum going! Our online engagement for Phase 1 will open until July 6, allowing you to voice your thoughts before the engagement portals on the project page close.
We aim to publish our “What We Heard” report by mid-July. If you haven’t had the chance yet, please take part in our online survey or comment directly on our online interactive map to ensure that your voice contributes to the community’s vision, links below.

Berwick Update: Phase 2 Conceptual Designs for YOUR review
We are maintaining engagement momentum across our projects with the completion of in-person sessions for Phase 2 in Berwick, where we presented the draft conceptual facility designs. Our plans include multi-use paths that connect residential areas to schools and recreation centers, along with protected bike lanes throughout Commercial Street.
You still have the chance to provide feedback on our conceptual designs through our online survey
and by viewing and commenting on the conceptual illustrations via our online interactive map found on our project page, links below.

Project Highlights and Progress (Wagmatcook, Village of Baddeck, New Glasgow and Westville)
We acknowledge that many projects have faced delays, but we remain committed to moving forward! The Wagmatcook Core AT Network Report is anticipated to be finalized and published in July, pending final edits. We look forward to presenting this plan to the Chief and Council for a motion of adoption. For insights into our previous engagement efforts, please visit our project page [https://blueroute.ca/wagmatcook-first-nation-core-at-networks-partner/]
As part of our ongoing AT work around East River in Pictou and Acadia Park, we will be visiting New Glasgow and Westville this month with our engineering partners from WSP. We aim to conduct site visits and assess existing conditions to refine our design drawings and cost estimates for presentation to their respective residents for comment and refinement. It’s inspiring to work alongside various community members in the province looking to help foster connections between their neighbours.
Moreover, our project partner, C+D, is nearing the completion of the final design drawings, and we are eager to compile a comprehensive final report, including community engagement and facility designs, by late July. Baddeck Village, get ready to see how we can walk and roll safely and with better connection from your home, your favourite spots for a picnic, or to pick up your letters from the post office.
Visioning Session: Region of Queens
Recently, we held a successful visioning session with members from the Region of Queens, where 10 amazing community members and stakeholders contributed their insights, lived experiences and concerns to shape their network’s vision. We have refined our scope by developing three mini-core AT network projects within the municipality, specifically targeting improved walkability and rollability in Caledonia, Greenfield, and Liverpool. This session was supported by our new Active Transportation Assistant, Autumn, who brings planning theory and principles from her recent graduation in Community Design and Urban Planning from Dalhousie.
