In case of a collision…
Here’s a checklist to refer to if you get into a collision with a vehicle.
At the Scene of the Crash
- Stay calm. Move as little as possible in case you have suffered any injuries.
- Call the police (911) and wait for them to arrive.
- Stay on the scene and make sure any others involved do the same.
- Keep the scene intact, as long as it is safe to do so; everything can be used as evidence.
- Do not negotiate with the driver
- Look for witnesses to give statements to police
- Seek medical attention
- Take pictures of damages and of the scene
- Preserve any evidence
- Ensure accurate details on the accident report
- Do not admit fault for the accident. That is for others to determine.
