Cycling Nova Scotia is a not for profit organization that is invested in promoting cycling culture, improving infrastructure, and strengthening the cycling community in Nova Scotia. We advocate and support all types of cycling and are committed to improving conditions within the province so that cyclists of all ages and abilities can enjoy the thrill, enjoyment, and practicality of riding a bike.
Most of the work that takes place within Cycling Nova Scotia is through volunteers, whether through the board that oversees operations, or through the many dedicated cyclists and advocates that generously give their time throughout the year.
Since 2018, our insurance has provided Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage to our members on all their rides – whenever and wherever! To learn more, go to our insurance section.
Some of the work CNS performs:
- Helping to promote Nova Scotia as a bike touring destination through our work with Cycle NS, The Blue Route, and other initiatives.
- Advocate for and help develop sustainable mountain biking trails around the province.
- Regularly checking with the cycling community, political representatives, and other stakeholders to assess the present and plan for the future.
- Help develop legislation to improve safety on the roads and raise awareness about safe passing distances.
- Connect our cycling community through our quarterly newsletter and our website.
- Organize and support competitive races around the province.
- Help organize the ever-impressive Bike Week in Halifax.
- Collaborate with towns and municipalities to help implement and improve upon Active Transportation plans around the province.
- Help develop partnerships, make connections, and build a stronger cycling community.
- Stay on top of political changes and current trends to ensure that our voice is adequately heard and taken into consideration.
- Provide insurance for both competitive and recreational riders.
As a member, you will be adding your voice to the conversation and be contributing to the work that we do. The more people we have involved with the organization, the stronger the cycling community becomes. We want to hear what you have to say and keep you informed about what is happening around Nova Scotia. Ours is a dedicated and dynamic community that is growing and evolving all the time.
